“American Gangster” remixes start to roll in
December 6, 2007LA producer Beirut and Spanish beatmakers Cookin’ Soul are two of the first to try their hand at remixing the entirety of Jay-Z’s American Gangster. Beirut dropped a dope Black Album remix a few years back, and Beirut Gangster sounds pretty fresh from what I’ve heard. Cookin’ Soul takes a more marketing-minded approach to their remix with Billboard Gangster, exclusively using Elvis Presley samples – a nod to Jay’s recent achievment of 10 consecutive solo albums, which bested Presley’s long-held record. Click the album covers below to download:
Of course the homeboy DJ Dahi is also preparing African Gangster. Peep his remix to “Sweet” here.
