Another ?uestlove-leaked demo from a random Roots session – this one features the legendary Reverend Al Green jamming with the band in the studio. According to Billboard, ?uestlove is producing Rev. Green’s upcoming album on Blue Note Records. This is some funky shit.
LA producer Beirut and Spanish beatmakers Cookin’ Soul are two of the first to try their hand at remixing the entirety of Jay-Z’s American Gangster. Beirut dropped a dope Black Album remix a few years back, and Beirut Gangster sounds pretty fresh from what I’ve heard. Cookin’ Soul takes a more marketing-minded approach to their remix with Billboard Gangster, exclusively using Elvis Presley samples – a nod to Jay’s recent achievment of 10 consecutive solo albums, which bested Presley’s long-held record. Mr. Jones makes an appearance on the January issue of The Source (which is apparently now “100% Benzino Free!”). His new LP Nigger (….) is scheduled for a February release.
