J*Davey on OkayplayerTV
June 19, 2008
For the second edition of OkayplayerTV (peep episode 1 w/ Janelle Monae here), the homey Gregthedude and I traveled to the Key Club to film and interview one of LA’s most eclectic and original acts – J*Davey. Their sound is extremely hard to categorize – they remind me of Prince and The Eurythmics and their music draws elements from ’80s New Wave, electro-pop, hip hop, disco and funk. There’s a recent profile on them in the New York Times you can also peep for more info. Check out our interview and a few song performances from their amazing live show below. All videos shot and edited by Gregthedude, and produced by yours truly. And happy birthday to me as well! Haha.
