A CunninLynguists song about herb is pretty much a lock to be fantastic, and this new joint doesn’t disappoint at all. The CL’s are readying TWO new projects, Strange Journey Volume One and Volume Two, featuring Killer Mike, J-Zone, Khujo Goodie and more (including Inverse), and this is the first single. A video for this joint will be dropping later this month as well, and the song will also be included on the forthcoming VIMBY New Classics mixtape.
New heat from the homey Vince, featuring Shawn Jackson, Prezzo and myself, channeling the CLASSIC Gangstarr joint. Had a LOT of fun recording this joint, and we’re actually shooting the video in Venice tomorrow before the FCC Liftoff show. Download the track below, and peep a clip of Prez speaking on the song below.
You may remember Paul Dateh’s violin work from our songs “So Far” and “Rise And Shine,” but you might not know that he’s also a really talented songwriter and vocalist (that’s also him singing “aaaaAAAAah” through-out “Beautiful City”). I also have to give Paul props for being the man who convinced me to start this blog, and use the internet to market in general…shit, he was telling me I needed to get on Twitter two years ago. Paul’s self titled debut album just dropped on Tuesday, and it features plenty of violins, vocals and more. Check it out on iTunes, Amazon, or any other digital outlet, or hit Paul at his site for a retail copy. He’s also performing and celebrating his album release at The Old Temple Bar (er…Dakota Lounge…?) on Saturday night, check him out if you can’t make our show. Here’s a new video blog from Paul below, talking about the new album and the release show, and featuring the beat from “Rise And Shine”:
Brand new mixtape from Yannick and Yonas, mixed by the big homey Mick Boogie. This is the prelude to U-N-I’s debut LP A Love Supreme, which will be entirely produced by Ro Blvd. This tape is simply dope as hell – 27 tracks of good hip hop. I know my name’s on the tracklist, but I’m not on the tape…long story. The U-N-I/Tunji collaboration is cursed, I swear. Click the cover to download!!!
Brand new clip from the big homeys Kweli, Res and Graph Nobel, off their upcoming project Party Robot. If you’re in NYC, check out their show with Blu & Exile on December 22nd @ BB Kings.
The big homey Mick mashes up some of Hov’s verses with some of Coldplay’s music. Gave this a spin this morning and it’s very dope shit. Tracklist below, and you know the drill by now – click the cover to download it. Thanks to Eskay for the linkage.

Newness from U-N-I to the verse, taken from Mick Boogie’s Honor Roll mixtape, which drops tonight in honor of VH1’s Hip Hop Honors. This track pays tribute to De La Soul’s classic joint of the same name and is produced by the homey 6th Sense. I’m gonna kill Mick and 6th for not letting me know about this tape before it was too late to jump on.
U-N-I is killing shit right now, by the way. Grab their other recent joint “Yesterday” below as well. These are the two latest joints from Y-O and Thurz, and they’re probably my two favorite songs they’ve released so far. Should be hittin’ the stew with these dudes tonight – yessir.
Illmind is rather destructive behind the boards, so this new compilation of joints he’s produced over the years comes highly recommended. This is about a week old but it dropped during my little blog hiatus so it’s going up now. Check the tracklist below and click the cover to download.
