The Roots - “Rising Up” (live @ UCLA Jazz Fest)

Here’s The Roots performing their latest single this past Sunday at UCLA. No Nigerians or Chrisette for this performance, but we actually saw Ms. Michelle perform a few hours later at the House of Blues (along with Solange and Raheem DeVaughn) so it was all good. Black Thought is a fuckin beast yo.

Goapele & Immortal Technique @ UCLA Jazz/Reggae Festival (videos)

The annual UCLA Jazz/Reggae Festival was held over the weekend and we were lucky enough to check out the first day of the two-day event, starring Goapele, Immortal Technique and The Roots. It was sunny and the crowd was hella chill, so the vibe was on point and all of the performers delivered. Goapele’s a goddess, by the way. We actually filmed the entire Roots set for OKPtv and got a DOPE ass interview with ?uestlove. We’ll see that footage in a couple of weeks over at Okayplayer. Also, Black Thought got mad at Greg for sitting on his coat. Hilarious. Overall, a very dope concert and a Sunday afternoon well spent.
