Inverse on Sunday Night Sound Session (full interview)

February 2, 2009

We teased y’all with my freestyle last week, but here’s the full interview from our trip up to Seattle a couple of weeks ago. We talked to Hyphen about our backgrounds, the So Far and So True projects, how the internet and blog explosion has affected our careers as independent artists, and of course the freestyle closes out the show. You can catch some clips from our performance at Chop Suey in this video as well. Shouts to Hyphen and Spiel for the incredible footage!

NEW MUSIC: CunninLynguists – “Never Come Down (The Brownie Song)”

February 1, 2009

A CunninLynguists song about herb is pretty much a lock to be fantastic, and this new joint doesn’t disappoint at all. The CL’s are readying TWO new projects, Strange Journey Volume One and Volume Two, featuring Killer Mike, J-Zone, Khujo Goodie and more (including Inverse), and this is the first single. A video for this joint will be dropping later this month as well, and the song will also be included on the forthcoming VIMBY New Classics mixtape.

Solange, Anjulie and Inverse @ The Viper Room this Wednesday night

February 1, 2009

solange_04small

Yo I swear my life is weird sometimes. I spent nearly a year working on the marketing of Ms. Solange Knowles album at Geffen, and now we’re opening up for her and her band the Hadley Street Dreams on Wednesday at the Viper Room. This is extra weird because Anjulie, who is managed by Blacksmith (who I also work with), is performing as well. People still sleep on Solange, but her album last year was CRAZY, and Anjulie will be making a lot of noise this year (check out her single “Boom”). Anyways, it should be dope as hell to share the stage with these two talented women.  Viper Room is one of my favorite venues to perform at in LA…the stage is tiny, but the energy of the club is dope. We’ll have Adam and Brandon with us on keys and guitar, so it should be extrafresh.

Shouts to Gregthedude on the flyer action.

Yesterday…

February 1, 2009

Yesterday was definitely one of the busiest and most fun I’ve had in awhile. We shot the video for “Mass Appeal 09,” at Venice Beach on some guerilla-style shit, even managing to film some scenes in a classic Cadillac and attracting a sizeable crowd of on-lookers and random spectators. We wrapped around 3PM and all met back up for the FCC Liftfoff show at The Palmer Room in Culver City. Not the gulliest venue, but we managed to pack the place and everybody killed their sets. Shoutout to El Prez, Convinced, Chris Focus, and all the homeys who were in the house last night (U-N-I, E-Dub, J Dex, Slav, 310, Dale Danja, Sin, C-San, Eazee…I’m forgetting people). Also got to meet a lot of new faces whose names I’ve been seeing around for a minute (DNEZ, H.O.P.E., Shawn Chrystopher, PCASO, Bananaclipse, Kev from HipHopOfficial and hella more). There were a number of cameras at both events, so I’m sure video and photos from the shoot and the show will start popping up in the blogosphere tonight and tomorrow.
